Playing videos

What formats can SuperWatcher play?

Nearly all of them. SuperWatcher uses the mpv and FFmpeg engines, so it plays MKV, MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, TS, M2TS, WMV, FLV, MPEG and more, with H.264, HEVC, VP9 and AV1 video, HDR on HDR-capable screens, and audio like AAC, AC3, DTS, FLAC and Opus.

Subtitles can be SRT, ASS/SSA, VTT, or image-based like PGS and VobSub, either inside the file or added separately.

A video won’t play or looks wrong. What should I do?

Open the video, then send a report from Settings › Send Feedback. The report includes the video’s technical details (codecs, resolution, tracks), which is usually all we need to find the problem. You can also email us.

The subtitles are out of sync.

While the video plays, open the playback options and adjust the subtitle delay. It moves in 0.1-second steps, up to 30 seconds either way. Tap the value to reset it.

Can I watch on my TV?

Yes, with AirPlay to an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible TV. Files that your TV can’t play on its own, like MKV, are converted as they stream. If a video has trouble, try a different option under Settings › AirPlay › Delivery.

How do I take notes?

Turn on Settings › Notes. An Add Note button then appears in the player. Tap it to save the current frame and time, then type a note or record a voice note. Find your notes in the player’s Now Playing panel, or for your whole library from the Library screen. You can export them as Markdown with their images.

Adding videos

How does Wi-Fi Transfer work?

It lets you send videos from a computer to your iPhone or iPad over your own Wi-Fi. Nothing goes through the internet.

  • In the Library, tap the import button at the top right and choose Enable Wi-Fi Transfer.
  • On a computer on the same Wi-Fi network, open the address it shows (it looks like http://192.168.0.20:8080) in any web browser.
  • Drag your videos onto the page, or click Choose Files. Keep SuperWatcher open until they finish.

If the page doesn’t load, check that both devices are on the same network and that SuperWatcher is allowed to use the Local Network in iOS Settings.

Can I import from Files, Photos or a USB drive?

Yes. Use the import button in the Library and pick Import from Files (iCloud Drive, USB drives, and servers connected in the Files app) or Import from Photos.

Can I play from Plex, Jellyfin, Emby or my NAS?

Yes, from servers you own or have access to. Copy a direct stream or download link for a video from your server, tap the link button in the Library, and press Play. You can also save it for offline viewing.

For a NAS or computer share (SMB), connect it in the Files app first: Browse › ⋯ › Connect to Server. Then open or import videos from it in SuperWatcher.

You can also share a video link to SuperWatcher from Safari or another app.

Free trial and purchase

How does the free trial work?

Your first 10 movies are free, with every feature. A video counts as one of the 10 once it has played for a minute, and watching it again later doesn’t count again. A video you’ve started always plays to the end. You can see how many free movies are left in Settings.

After 10, a one-time purchase of keeps playback going forever. Your library, notes and settings never lock, even if you don’t buy.

Is there a subscription, ads, or anything locked?

No. It’s one purchase, with no subscription, no ads, and no features held back for an upgrade. Optional tips in the app are just that, optional, and don’t unlock anything.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, then go to Settings › Restore Purchase. Your purchase works on every iPhone and iPad signed in to that account.

Does Family Sharing work?

Yes. Once you buy SuperWatcher, everyone in your Family Sharing group can unlock it at no extra cost. If it doesn’t unlock for a family member, have them tap Restore Purchase.

Does deleting and reinstalling reset the trial?

No. The count of free movies used is kept in your device’s Keychain so it survives a reinstall. It never leaves your device.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I join the beta?

Install Apple’s TestFlight app, then open testflight.apple.com/join/xy6YJrvd on your iPhone or iPad. SuperWatcher is coming to the App Store soon.

What do I need?

Does SuperWatcher collect my data?

No account, no ads, no analytics. Your videos and notes stay on your device. Read exactly what the app sends and when in our privacy policy.
